This year we did our first trick-or-treating with the neighborhood kids. We wore costumes that I made for us which was a new experience. Please note that I do not own a sewing machine nor have I ever had sewing lessons. They turned out all right all things considered. Josh and Jenna dressed up as Super Daddy and Super Jenna, since they are the best of buds. I am 29 weeks preggo, and I went as a pumpkin.
Here's a pic of the Cashion Woods super heroes in action and ready to save the day! Josh is such a good daddy and Jenna just has a blast with him.
I say there are mixed emotions about this trick-or-treating thing, because when the kids are little it is all sweet things like princesses, super heroes or favorite characters. There is an innocence to it all. It is a time for kids to dress up as their favorite pretend character and giggle with friends. When they get older it turns to a darker side. Gore gets involved. Things get scary for little ones and the innocence gets lost. That's when I have a problem with things. For now we'll be okay, but once things go dark we will have to re-evaluate things.
For the evening's festivities we went over to the neighbors' house to eat pizza. Then as a group we visited the neighborhood homes. Afterwards we went to another neighbors' house where they built a bon fire and we roasted marshmellows and made s'mores. It gave the kids time to run around with flash lights and glow sticks to work off some of the sugar. Jenna had the best time playing with her friends! This was a time of innocence.

I know what you mean. We had several groups of middle schoolers that I'm pretty sure were just dressed up as hookers. Or maybe they were Valley girls. When did lots of make-up and fishnets become a costume?
